This is a compact, well-built card reader that feels solid and durable. There are no cheap, flimsy plastics. The squared-off profile makes it easy to fit the reader in a camera bag and take it with you for downloading footage on the go.

Performance is solid. I measured it a consistent 860+Mbps write and 870+Mbps read when used with a SandDisk Extreme Extreme Pro 512 GB CF Express card.

All in all it works well for my needs and if I decide to buy other SanDisk Pro readers and their dock I can integrate them into a simple, elegant solution on my desk.

Good card reader low quality cord

I have no complaints on the card reader itself. Sandisk products I trust so it was a no-brainer. For the cost of this card reader, there is no way I should have to be buying a new cord due to the old one failing. The first issue was that the outer part of the cable started falling apart at the connection point about a couple months into use. The second is the actual portion that goes into the port loosened and is out of position. Keep in mind, I keep this plugged into my laptop so it is not due to constant plugging and unplugging. Never have I had an issue with the less expensive card reader cords so it's disappointing that Sandisk choose to use below average connections for an expensive product. A replacement cord for me to buy is about $11 but honestly, should have had to replace anything?

Awesome SD card reader

I bought this SD card reader to read camera image files from my camera's SD card. I typically shoot in both RAW and JPG, so I end up with some large files (the RAW are about 28 MB). The reader is faster than any other SD card reader I've used. I get fast enough speeds when I am reading the files off (not posting numbers since they are highly system dependent); however, I can read off 100s of files and the reader maintains the same speed for all of them. I can also browse the JPGs on the SD card quickly - the files come up immediately like the are on a local disk.
This SD card reader is designed to stay plugged into the USB-C port. When you eject the SD card you do NOT have to disconnect the drive from the USB port. This is what I needed (there are others out there that do require the reader to be disconnected)
I like that the case is solid aluminum. I don't know if it has an impact on the performance, but it looks and feels quality.
So it may be more expensive compared to other readers, but so far it has been totally worth it to me.

Have tried several card readers, but this is by far the fastest I have tried and by a pretty large margin. More than twice as fast as some other readers - there are in depth reviews available online if a person wants all the numbers.

Very well built, high quality materials and it feels that way as well - it's overkill for a card reader, really - but that's not a bad thing, right?

Benchmark screenshot is of a SanDisk Extreme Pro microSD card. When compared to normal readers, this reads almost 3x as fast, and writes almost 2x as fast.
