Short, delicate lifespan

Got this as a portable / detachable solution for Plex server content. It stays connected to an old ASUS 90% of the time, but I take it with me for extended travel bc my power goes out a lot & the ASUS doesn't always reboot successfully, causing me to lose access until I return home.

I had less than 400gb loaded onto the drive. Had no idea there were any issues until I tried to play a file & Plex said it was missing. They all were missing 😮‍💨 & I had deleted most of the files from both my (C:)s. & Now my Plex server is riddled with missing files.

Troubleshooter says the disc is corrupt & I've made no progress with every instructional I've followed so far. IDK if the data can even be recovered so going thru the effort to take it somewhere & pay to find out... This is why I bought big brand name for once 😠 I don't have the resources for all that. But it failed anyway (16 months of use?)

Bought this products for my son to offload files from his laptop to free disk space. It works great for this. He's also experimenting with it as a storage device to load games for his XBox series X. Should be fine for this as well. Very small footprint and loads of space. We all have tons of data that we need to backup. Get one.

I LOVE how quickly this drive copies files in comparison to the speed of a usb or thumb drive. I kinda wish I would’ve got a bigger storage capacity now that I know how great this thing is. It’s reliable and a great way to organize all my photos and files. Downside; I could not copy photos from my old Mac to it for some reason… idk if it’s just bc it’s an older Mac but it didn’t seem very compatible. I could view the files already on the drive, but that was it. Couldn’t move anything to it from the computer. I did get a slightly newer hp computer and this drive works VERY well with it. My only future concern is that the cord seems like it may wear down quickly and I’ll have to figure out a replacement, as the side of the cord that plugs into the drive is a very unique shape and sometimes seems like it comes out a little too easily but other than that baby concern I love this thing! I just purchased a 1 terabyte and needed it for large photography files, but Id gladly buy another one if this one fills up. Worth the price! Doesn’t get hot, doesn’t make any noise and does exactly what it’s intended to do!

As I was writing in the title. It absolutely works fine, but if you're like me and have older hardware. You'll want to make sure it's plugged into at least a 3.0 USB port. I made the mistake of plugging it in my front ports which are on 2.0. They were too slow. At first I thought it wasn't working and I had a defect. Nope, this is just me behind on the technology. Anyway, I've had it for months, just using it to store all my stuff.

You can run games on it fine, but I probably wouldn't suggest that if you want to give this storage a longer life time.

I work for a tutoring company and got this to store videos and other files that I can't keep on my computer because they take up so much space. This has helped so much, because I used to just delete extra recordings, and then if the video became corrupted when I uploaded it I would have to rerecord the entire thing instead of just re-editing the video clips.
I also bought another one for my mom because the storage is so great and the price is so affordable!
The only annoying thing is that there were no instructions for setting up the hard drive. I just googled the brand and how to set it up and it was fine, but if you don't really know anything about computers or hard drives, just be aware of that.

Bought this because I needed extra storage for pictures and school stuff. When I first got it, I uploaded a bunch of pictures and tried to hit the "safely remove hard drive" button. However, this button wasn't there, it was as if my computer wasn't recognizing that it was plugged in even though I had just saved a bunch of stuff to it. Eventually I just had to unplug it without "safely removing" it. Thankfully it was five afterwards. This happened a couple more times which made me very nervous to save anything too important on it. Then after maybe the 4th or 5th time trying, it started working (or removing) the way it should. Since then it works perfect. I'm very happy that it's working now, but it was a very odd and worrisome problem. Please keep in mind that this could have been my personal computer acting up, however I've had this computer for years and it's never done that before.
