I got this so I could clamp my gopro onto the straps of my backpack when I am recording my travels on the go. Once you have the gopro installed onto the adapter it is easy to adjust the angle of the gopro and a bonus is that the attachment is also magnetic and is capable of holding a gopro securely to anything that is metal. The quick release that just requires a small button press and turn is nice to have when you want to quickly remove the gopro in order to freehand record something. It is a mostly plastic build but well built to the usual Ulanzi quality (good bang for the buck) and I have quite a few of their products and have never had any complaints with them at their price points.

I've tried a few similar backpack mounts, and this is the best one I've ever seen!

Pros:
• The jaws open wide enough for any backpack strap, and are deep enough to get a good bite.
• The jaws are also very strong, and have rubberized teeth which grab onto any backpack shoulder strap material.
• The magnetic bottom side of the jaw is VERY strong. I would easily trust it to hold my GoPro up on any magnetic metal surface - it holds well on a refrigerator door, garage shelving frames, steel car body panels, even the rounded corners of the walls in my house (which have steel nose pieces in them) are great places to stick this thing to grab a quick shot. NOTE: I would *not* trust this to hold magnetically to a moving car. But one that is parked would be great.
• The mechanism for attaching the camera is brilliant! All the other mounts I've used required unscrewing the thumb screw to get the camera off the jaws. This is inconvenient.. but this mount solves this with a design which is both magnetic as well as positively locked mechanically. Just pop the camera's base into the mount and twist 90º to lock it. To unlock, there is a small thumb button to press, then twist back 90º and the camera will pop back out.
• The mounting mechanism allows for mounting in either direction (screw towards the hinge, or away from it - see pictures)
• The base also rotates so you can adjust the camera to be level with the horizon even if your shoulder strap is not. Again - see my pictures.

Cons:
• I wish the magnet in the base of the jaw was stronger. It feels like they put a single magnet at the tip of the jaw. If they had added a second or third along the length of the jaw, this would hold securely enough to be placed on a moving car easily.
• When placed on a flat surface, the camera is tilted off the horizon a few degrees due to the slant of the jaws. This is not a huge deal, but I thought I'd mention it, as it can somewhat limit the options for orientation when mounting on a flat surface. You can rotate the camera around on the base to achieve a level shot though, so this is not really much of a problem. (see photos)

Overall - I really like this mount, and it's already replaced my old flimsy one in my "must have" GoPro camera bag.

I received this item for free to review as a vine voice. I am a huge ULANZI fan. The price versus the build quality is quite exceptional. There is no difference with this mount. This is similar to the GoPro branded magnetic clip. It's quite durable and is extremely versatile. This mount can be clipped to any kind of strap or thinner platforms and can also magnetically mount to metal surfaces. The spring in the clip is pretty strong however, I'm not sure that I would trust the magnet to high winds or mounted to a vehicle with the magnet only. I have used it clipped to the wind fairing of a roof rack and it held great at lower speeds... not over 45mph. This is equipped with ULANZI's universal quick clip system so pay attention to how it releases. Also, to turn the mount so that it is in the orientation that you want it, you have to slightly pull the mount away from the clip and rotate... I almost broke mine trying to figure that out but that is how it's done. Then you can have the camera in virtually any position that you want. I would definitely recommend if you don't want to spend nearly twice as much on the GoPro magnetic swivel clip.

Small But Not Mighty

I bought this as an alternative to GoPro's 1st party clip accessory. However, I ended up returning it for a mount from Telesin. Here's why:

The adjustments on this mount just don't seem to be made for humans or action. This mount has two pivot points, one on the mount along the roll axis (think switching from protrait to landscape) and another where it connects to the GoPro for pitch. The main problem comes when this is mounted to a backpack strap on a torso. Because the torso is not a flat surface, the mount ends up pointing the camera off to the side. You can try to adjust it, but the 'pull and rotate' method of adjusting the mount is a pain when on one's chest and will never fully account for a non-flat surface.

The mount also has a magnetic base. Great in theory, but not strong enough to confidently hold a GoPro and because the mount is a clip you get the above issue wherein the horizon is off.

As for what I like, the mount is small, smaller than most others and it makes good use of rubber inside the clip at the teeth and the base to prevent it from wearing away at backpack straps and magnetic surfaces.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this mount.
