One of two warmer works fine

I ordered two of these warmers because of the added power port feature and a fair amount of good reviews. Up to a week ago, one of the warmers started shutting off at a whim and the light that lets you know it's on has gotten very dim. If there is any light on in the room where you're using it... you cannot tell if it's on.
So far, a mixed experience. Just glad my wife's is working fine. I wouldn't hear the end of it. lol

I thought that mug warmers were designed to keep a cup of coffee, tea, or other hot beverage warm while it is being drunk in the midst of working at a desk or something. I expected the heating surface to hover around 140 degrees or so to maintain that temperature. Imagine my surprise when I measured the temp at the center of the heat plate on this Acko USB Coffee Mug Warmer with an infrared non-contact thermometer and found it to be upwards of 270 degrees! That's hot, and can cause burns if not used carefully. I almost thought that I got a defective unit until I got a different brand of warmer and found about the same thing. So I guess that this is normal. The thing is, when the mug is sitting on the hot plate the outer edges of the plate are considerably less hot, and I wouldn't worry about getting burns from that area. Just watch that middle portion!

This is a single-setting plate, factory set to keep your beverage around 130°F. It has an on-off button at the front lower-right corner of the unit, with a nice large easy to see LED indicator light that lets you know it is on. If the user forgets to turn the unit off, it automatically shuts itself off after being on for about 8 hours - a good safety feature. I think what sets this unit apart from many others is the inclusion of a pair of USB charging ports on its right side: one USB-A and one USB-C. This is a handy thing to have on any desktop where electronic devices are used! Each port delivers 2A of current, and the warmer doesn't have to be on to still supply the USB power - just plugged into a standard AC wall outlet.

Keeping things toasty

What I like most about this warmer is that the warming plate size is a good size. Usually the size of the warming plate is maybe a quarter of an inch if not just the exact same size as the bottom of the coffee cup but this one as you can tell from the pictures has plenty of room around. The center of the plate is what gets the hottest and the outside edges which is the area that's not covered by the cup gets warm but you can touch it in case you have to move it around you won't burn yourself. Another great thing about this warmer if the fact that it has an USB ports on the side so that if you don't have enough outlets in the wall to plug things into charge while you're using your warmer you can plug your items into the warmer itself and charge your devices. I was able to plug both my cell phone my mini iPad as well as a tablet into the warmer and they were all able to charge while the warmer was keeping my mug warm. I also enjoyed the fact that it has the blue indicator light in the corner right above the on-off button. This is an easy way to tell when the warmer is on or off the size of the indicator light is probably about 2 inches. The on off button isn't the typical on and off button where you have to flip a switch up and down or where you have to really push on it to make it go in in order to turn it off and on. The on and off button is a touch button so you don't have to put any pressure behind pushing down on the button itself. You just have to lightly touch the button and it comes on or goes off. Another aspect of this warmer that I like is the fact that it has little legs that lifted up allowing air to pass through under it giving good airflow and circulation so it doesn't overheat. There's not really anything that I don't like about it. However, if I could make this into a deluxe I would add a temperature control on it. I was able to take my hot drink steaming out of the microwave and put it on the warmer and it dropped the temperature but still keeping it very warm after sitting for about 20 minutes. I also took a mug and took a room temperature bottle of water and put it on the warmer and within about 15-20 minutes it actually warmed the water up. Not to where it was steaming or smoking but where was just warm enough for you to drink if you were wanting a hotter drink. So a temperature control would be great because you would be able to turn the temperature up or down depending on how hot you want your drink. Other than that I think this is a great product and I will actually be buying these for Christmas for a couple of family members.

This isn't an attractive device, to us anyway. We have another mug warmer that is actually a nice industrial design addition to a desk. This looks like a cheap plastic toy. We do like the USB ports on the side for charging things. We also like the auto shutoff timer of 8 hours. There are no adjustments. On and off is all you get via a capacitive button. It is powered off a 120v receptacle, not USB, which we were happy to see as it wasn't clear based on the listing. It functions, doesn't have a lot of features, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so we give it 4 stars.

• Wide enough for wide mugs or cups
• Will shut off after 8 hours which gives me some peace of mind

Dislikes
• I have a warmer that starts when I set a cup on it which I like better than having to press a button (but listen … this isn’t an actual issue for me. I like this warmer but just prefer that feature).
• No temperature control - just pointing this out if it’s a factor for you.
• Mug is for basically a shot of espresso and even though I like the quality and shape, it needs to be bigger for me; like no less than an 8 oz liquid capacity.
• Amount of time it takes to warm a not entirely flat mug (as shown in their pictures), is longer than I’d hoped. It’s rare to find an entirely flat mug to accommodate and the one that it came with is too small (cute but small). So when using this, give it a little time.

Basic, one temperature warmer

You can’t get any simpler than this. You plug it in, you put the mug on the surface, you switch it on. But I would like it to be a teeny bit more complicated.

I chose this mug warmer because the heating surface was recessed. That way there is a good chance that you will not absent-mindedly catch your finger on the hot surface. But since there are very few square mugs, why not restrict the hot surface to a circle?

The temperature it keeps my tea at is ok … but it could be better. I would have liked a choice of temperatures. I don’t see how everyone can like exactly the same setting.

So this works and its simple. It will do a good job for you. But I am sure I can find another one that suits me better.

Overall, I really like this coffee warmer. It maintains my hot drink at a good temperature and it doesn't get too hot underneath - I had a different warmer that I realized became very hot on the underside, which caused me concern for my wood desk top and I had to keep a coaster beneath it. I have not found the charging port to be of great use. I have a Samsung Note 20 and when I have plugged it in, it takes a very long time to charge. It works, but takes hours and hours. This doesn't bother me as I had not intended to use it for this purpose any way so I only took off one star. It does have a VERY sensitive touch on/off switch. You can see from my video that you don't have to press a button, you only have to lightly touch/brush the top of the switch. This may be of concern for some people. I also think that 8 hours before automatic shut off, is a long time. Having said that, the last warming plate I had also had an 8 hour time frame auto shut off, so maybe this is some sort of industry norm. Overall, I'm very pleased with how well this is working and find it sleek and modern looking on my work desk.

I Like the Large Area

I like that this has a large warming area for my larger mugs that didn't fit on my other mug warmer. The USB plug in ports are great for if you need a quick plug. But, there is no way to control the timer or temperature and I've discovered that it's very easy to turn on by accident if you're not careful. Merely tapping the button turns on the warmer. The timer also turns it off far sooner than I'd like.

An OK coffee cup warmer. It has a not often seen feature of having 2 charging ports on it to charge or phone (does not come with additional cables to charge devices). Keeps coffee at a good temperature so is not adjustable if you wanted coffee more or less hot. A bit pricey compared to similar warmers, but, it Does have the charging ports.
