Great for thick desks!

I recently moved to a adjustable motorized standing desk. However I did not take into consideration the thickness of this desk when I purchased it. I searched forever trying to find a mic boom that had a clamp bigger than 2.75 inches and this was THE ONLY ONE I could find that said it would fit 3in which is exactly what my desk is. I will say I had to figure out how to take the round disk off so that I could put this on then put it back. But other than that this is perfect. I also love the base has some padding and is wide. Since I have a glass top table that helps distribute weight much better. I’m using this with an SM7B. Just make sure to follow the instructions on setting up the stand BEFORE you start adjusting things. Over all it’s great. Just remember you will need your own XLR cable.

I ordered my mic stand and within the first week or two, the clamp exploded. I am using a hyper quad cast and assume that I was supposed to use a different mount for it but can’t find it or wasn’t given it, and the instructions don’t help out enough. Overall, works well as long as you use it lightly.

I bought this for a smaller condenser (Lewitt 440 Pure) which is lighter weight than many mics. It really has taken about 7-9 weeks for that mic arm to "break-in". What I mean is the arm(s) would float downward due to the weight of the mic. I cranked on those tension wheels pretty tightly and it still would slowly float down. Sometimes the base arm would float down and other times it was the extension arm. It took some manuevering to get it to stay in one place. It seems built really well but if they could make this product work great out of the box, I would have for sure given 5 stars. But even now, 7 weeks later, I still have to crank on those tension wheels very hard. Which is fine but when you need to adjust it up or down, those joints are tight. Which makes manuevering the arm(s) cumbersome because you actually have to use both hands and "force" it where you want it. If you need to make adjustments often (podcasters, DJ's), it will frustrate you. If you are like me, using it in a music studio booth, there are only a few times throughout the day I need to adjust it for vocals or instruments dpending on if one is standing or sitting.

The arm seems to be made of sturdy material. Before I purchased this I made sure that it worked with my Yeti microphone. However when I assembly and tried to use the arm and position it the arm seems slowly come down. I've tighted up each one of the joints but the microphone still slowly drops down. My advice is that if you purchase this Mic Arm make sure that it will support you mic. But for the price its just not worth it!

It’s works, but you really have to crank down on the joints to keep it from moving. If you want to move it in and out of the way regularly, you better hope your mic is the right weight since there is no spring adjustment. Honestly, just spend the extra and get a proper one like elgato.

Edit: Changed review to 4 stars for customer service. Company promptly reached out and addressed my concern and offered an exchange or refund while also explaining how to get the most out of the product. They told me it functions best with a heavier mic, so i would not recommend for a hyper X quadcast or an elgato wave. Might work well for an XLR mic like SM7B or Blue Baby Bottle.
