Great Mug Warmer

I bought this because I was tired of getting halfway through my coffee and it being lukewarm. This is easy to use, and I set it at the highest temperature and no more lukewarm coffee!!

This is only one of a long line of mug warmers I have purchased in order to find one that actually keeps my coffee at the proper temperature. I am not a fan of scalding hot coffee, but on the first morning I used this even the lowest temperature (supposed to be 104 degrees F) was way too hot for my coffee. My chosen temperature is between 135-140F, depending on the warmer. I unplugged it, and got it out a couple of days later to test the actual heating plate temperature with my IR thermometer. I turned it on, the screen lights up, and immediately goes dark. The buttons do nothing to bring back the display, not even the power button. Unplug, turn on, same drill. 3 times. This is garbage, save your money.

Keeps drinks warm! In my use so far I've seen that the cup being used really impacts how effectively this pad can heat the liquid - what I'd consider a "normal" coffee cup, which has a slightly concave bottom, is not able to take in a lot of the head that the pad puts out but a really flat-bottomed cup results in toasty liquid quickly. If you're using this with a more convex-bottomed cup it seems to be important to keep the mug on the pad from the beginning as opposed to starting to use the pad after the drink has gotten cooler than you want it because the reheating will take a while.

The heating pad on this unit is really large - way larger than you'd need for any regular cup. To me I think this is actually a downside, because it means a bunch of heat will be put out that just goes out into the air which is less efficient, and it means the unit as a whole has to be larger so it takes up a fair amount of space on my desk. That said, I noticed it fits a desert plate so maybe I'll be able to make use of that at some point.

The pad, especially its center gets super hot while warming especially on higher settings. On the Tea/149°F setting the center of the pad registered over 300°F on an infrared thermometer as the pad was heating up. After it was at-temperature though, the whole pad was more consistently around 190°F

The unit feels well-made and what each button does was easy to intuit. I do wish that 1) the last setting that was used, and the temperature selected for each type of beverage was retained between on/off so I don't have to set the unit up again each time when 99% of the time I'm going to want the same settings and 2) that there was a physical switch to disable the capactive touch button on-off for extra safety because that would be more convenient than unplugging after use (which I'm certain I need to do to avoid one of my cats walking by and creating a fire hazard).

I got this coffee mug warmer to use as a "burner" to keep my coffee carafe hot after making coffee with a cone and filter setup. It is large enough so my carafe fits perfectly on top. It's a bit large though for a single mug so I don't know why they describe it as a mug warmer. But this actually works in my favor because after I have finished making the coffee I can fit both of our two mugs on the surface with only about a quarter of each mug outside the hot surface. I then pour the coffee into the mugs to let them stay hot before breakfast is ready.

The mug warmer has various modes for different drinks, but I really think they are unnecessary as you already have complete control over adjusting the temperature to the level of heat you want. Also, the various timers seem to be set at too long a time for just one mug. I believe there should have been timers included which are less than the shortest time of 2 hours, especially if you have just a mug on the warmer. However, the existing timers are good if you have something like a carafe that holds a good amount of coffee or tea to be drunk over a period of hours.

According to the website and manual descriptions the warmer will shut off after four hours, however I don't understand how the 6, 8, 10 and 12 hour timers work with a four hour shutoff. Very odd!

Overall this is a decent coffee warmer for my purposes even though, in my opinion, it has some unnecessary features and is too large just for use as a mug warmer, both of which probably add to the cost of making it.

I have an existing USB mug warmer on my desk that came with a cup and the warmer only works with the mug that came with it due to some material under the cup that activates the heating element. I could never put my mug in the microwave because the manufacturer states it will damage the cup and everything would no longer work. I like this Coffee Mug Warmer in that I can use any cup in my house with it. It is very easy to use and comes with presets that you can toggle through for coffee or tea, or when you want to use it for warming scented candles. I like the automatic shutoff that you can also adjust, something that my existing mug warmer doesn't have so I often end up with dried up coffee at the bottom of the cup that is an extra hassle to clean out. I also feel this is a huge safety issue that I don't need to worry about when I leave my coffee unattended. I really like this mug warmer for it's ease of use and versatility. I didn't give it five stars though because I think there is room for improvement with regards to aesthetics. I want to put this on my desk and it looks like a little appliance with an appliance cord and it feels a little thicker than it should be. The round heating element itself measures 5 inches across so this makes the whole unit perhaps bigger than it needs to be. I hope they make a smaller, slicker version that would take up less space on my desk. But overall I think this is a great product that was carefully designed and works very well as intended.

I have had an issue with the coffee warming plates. I have gone through three of them. I like my coffee and tea hot. I do not like it BOILING, but lukewarm annoys me.

HOW THIS COMES
This comes in a box with the cord and plug wrapped up. The manual is simple.

HOW I USED THIS
We love pour over coffee. The problem is that by the time you do the pour over routine, the stupid coffee is lukewarm and I am in lip curling mode and hate drinking it.

This solves all of that. We have our really beautiful scale that we use for precise measuring and timing. Once the coffee is poured, the pour over container goes right on the warming plate.

SETTINGS
I set this for coffee at 185F and it is PERFECT. Making coffee in pour over has now gone to AWESOME again. This also does milk and tea and all which I like too, but honestly the pour over experience just went up to enjoyable again. We love this thing. It truly keeps the coffee at the PERFECT temperature.

EASE OF USE
This is VERY easy to use. It is intuitive so you don't have to struggle and it seems accurate.

CORD
We have an outlet near our table. We had no issues with using it and the cord was long enough to reach even farther than most cords do.

THE BOTTOM LINE
I can not rave enough about this warming plate. It is exactly what I have been looking for and it has really made life so much nicer again.

MY RATING
FIVE STARS. I have used this with mugs, but the fact that the small Hario pour over glass pot fits on this as well and stays warm is thrilling. I recommend this highly if you love hot coffee that is at the perfect temperature without turning bitter or burning.

CAUTION
Just remember to turn this off near the end of the mug or pot.
