I primarily use this on flood mode when walking home on an unlit path at 1am. The flood floods very well. The light pattern is very wide and consistent. I can easily see the entire paved trail (wide enough to drive a car on) and even into the ditch very well.
The spotlight mode has great throw, and is nice and bright.
The controls are designed well. Its easy to change between brightness levels, and its easy to change between flood and spotlight. When switching between flood and spotlight your brightness settings are remembered. If you like your flood on brightness 2 but want your spotlight on brightness 4, you can switch between the modes without having to adjust the brightness setting.
The ability to tilt the headlamp really far down is very useful if you're around people or walking in the dark. It keeps the light out of peoples eyes you may stop to talk to, and it does a great job directing the light to your feet.
The battery being stored in the back is very nice for balance. The lamp wont try to fall off the front of your head like so many other headlamps which house the battery in the front.
This light does get warm on high settings in summer weather. It will throttle down from brightness 4 to brightness 3 eventually when it gets too warm. Ive found when walking in a breeze when its 50°f outside seems to keep it very cool and prevents issues with overheating caused throttling of the brightness.
Ive got no use for the red light. I have no plans to use it. Its only got 2 modes: on and SOS. Its easy to use, and easy to switch to flood/spotlight from it. I don’t think you can switch from flood/spotlight back to the red light however. I doubt many people will ever want to anyway.
The battery life is really good thanks to using 18650. It seems to charge fast as well.
The lights tint is a bit blue, which i personally like.
The headband is easy to adjust, and i haven't had issues with the cable that runs from the back to the front getting caught or anything. But i havent used it a whole lot yet.
I haven't tried to put it on over a hard hat or anything yet. I wouldn't recommend putting it on over a baseball cap is that limits the heads ability to tilt the lamp to point downward.
The buttons are easy to access in every angle adjustment except the furthest back position.
