FINALLY Olight released the M2R. That is the light I have been waiting for. The features are perfect. When I need the light quickly, I don't want to have to cycle through our press twice or three times, instead, one push on the tail cap and I have instant brightness. If I need just a little light, I use the side button with one of the lower settings. This combination works great! The charging is just like any other Olight, place the magnetic charger on the tail and you are good to go. The switchable clip is a great feature. I like carrying my light tail cap up, so I switched the clip and I'm good to go. It easily carries in my front pocket next to my pocket knife. If you don't like to pocket carry it comes with a very nice holster.
This pass weekend was the first trial of the light. We went to a bonfire and hayride. On the hayride they handed out little AA flashlights for different ones to use and to shine around in the woods and while on the road. As we were traveling along in the woods they could see something moving but the lights just couldn't illuminate it enough to make it out. I pulled out my M2R, clicked on the tail cap and lit the whole area up. It was just a couple of deer watching us from about 40 yards away along the ridge line. Everyone was completely amazed by how bright the light was and how well it lit everything up. My wife even commented now she sees why it was worth $100.
So as you can tell I'm extremely impressed with this light. If you are considering getting one, do it. The only question I can't answer is how long and well will this light hold up? I can only answer based on the three other Olights I own (H1R, S1R,, and S2R) and they all have held up well. They have survived being dropped and tossed around. The H2R permanently rides int he vehicle and survived the temp extremes without any issues. So if the M2R performs as well as those have I will be very happy. If I just had more funds I would be adding more Olights from the R series to my collection.
