The second in the series of the Flashman novels follows Harry Flashman through an adventure in Germany on the eve of the 1848 revolutions that rocked Europe. He is involved in an intricate political scheme hatched by a young Otto Von Bismark and a group of other historically accurate characters that provides the framework for his typically narrow escapes. There are enough plot twists and randy escapades to keep the pages turning briskly. His path crosses the infamous Lola Montez on numerous occasions as the tale progresses and they are evenly matched in their ability to manipulate and capitalize whatever the circumstances . A great follow-up to the first Flashman book and an enticement for me to continue reading the series. Great stuff.
