Like many others, I discovered these guys after watching "Later With Jools Holland". I decided to take a punt and try out the CD. It hasn't proved to be a disappointment - not a weak track on it. The incendiary "Blues Hand Me Down" and the more slow burning "Run Outta You" are like bookends to the disc, more rock oriented - Nalle pinching more than a couple of Jimmy Page guitar phrases and licks. There are slower more soulful tracks and tracks such as "Still And Always Will" along with "You Better Believe It" which are great call and response songs at a gig.
The whole act is undeniably retro, without once having the feel of it being a pastiche. The songs are all fresh, vibrant and sounding like nobody else on the scene at the moment. They call the music Rock'n'Soul, who am I to disagree?
It is the soundtrack to a great Saturday night out at that little club down the road, where you're always guaranteed a great night out
