I don't buy bootlegs!,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Marty - Goodyear TV Playhouse (May 24, 1953) (DVD)
The Goodyear Playhouse version of "Marty" is one of my favorite productions of all time, and I used to have it on videotape. I was happy to discover that Amazon offered it on DVD. However, it was clear from the moment the DVD arrived that something was amiss. The cover photo used in this product listing is deceptive, because it gave me the impression that I was purchasing an authorized copy. However, the DVD arrived in a plain case with the title printed on a white mailing label. That was the first clue.
When I started to watch the film, I could not believe how poor the audio and video were. Yes, I know the original film was not high quality, because the program was originally a live TV production shot in the early '50s, but the (authorized) video I used to have was far superior to this DVD. There are even flares at the bottom of the image -- the same thing you'd see if you watched an old VHS tape that wasn't tracking properly. This appears to be a copy of a copy, and I don't buy bootlegged material.
