Vera Lynn Collection,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vera Lynn Collection (Audio CD)
A little disappointing, because only 5 top notch war songs are represented. The remaining songs were recorded after the war and don't seem to have the same effect.

This is the Vera Lynn CD that has her WWII songs: "Vera Lynn Remembers - The Songs That Won World War 2". A fine collection that is very well recorded.

Vera Lynn is a wonderful singing talent. I purchase everything i find of her music whether on CD, LP, or in film. Unlike a lot of folks, I do not mind duplication. That just means I will have an excellent listening experience whatever mix of her catalog I play. Each grouping of songs has its own unique musical personality. How is it possible that I could ever be disappointed? ... WWII renderings are among the many delights of her talent that I enjoy. It's all good.

As noted in my review above: This is the Vera Lynn CD that has her WWII songs: "Vera Lynn Remembers - The Songs That Won World War 2".
A fine collection that was very well recorded in her singing prime. Exceptional!

Actually, the title of this collection here (where this review is appearing) is simply "The Vera Lynn Collection" (B000006TG0). There is no indication on this product that these are specifically "The Songs That Won World
War 2" or that Vera Lynn "Remembers" anything. However, there is another collection available on Amazon
that does bear the title that you cite, "Vera Lynn Remembers - The Songs That Won World War 2" (B00000K25A),
on the very same label.
Amazon for some odd (lazy) reason lumps the reviews of such similar items together. This causes the sort of
confusion we have here. You are quite correct and accurate with regard to the collection to which you are actually
referring (B00000K25A). You and I are simply speaking of two similar but differing collections. I am speaking of
B000006TG0. You are speaking of B00000K25A.
This tendency of Amazon to lump things together without regard for the confusion it causes among its clients
undermines its own professionalism and credibility. Since the ASIN numbers are distinct, there should be no
difficulty sorting out and correctly displaying reviews.
Please wake up, Amazon. You have wasted this gentleman's time and mine as well.
Have a great day!
