An album makes me cry. It's just that good and moving,
This review is from: Black Gives Way To Blue (Audio CD)
I was never a fan of AIC until i saw them play live with the velvet revolver in 07. I've heard some of their songs on mtv headbanger ball or something. Lately, i'd been looking for new music from that Seattle grunge era. Alice in Chains popped up apparently. Later I found out AIC released a new album with all new materials. It's really worth a try. It's just that magical. I instantly fell in love with all their music literally. Plus, i watched a few guest appearance performances on some talk shows. They're just stunning even so after many years. They're still in their top form.
Back to the BGWTB album. A couple notable songs i've got to mention: A Looking in View, Check my Brain, Last of my Kind, Lesson Learned. Obviously those I mentioned are the AIC heavy headbanging songs. Surprisingly, they've recorded quite a few acoustic tunes: Your Decision, Black gives way to blue, etc. Back Gives way to blue really moved me by no means. All the tracks were recorded, edited, produced beautifully. What I love about this is that an old band from the 90s sounds still so fresh and new in 2010, soon to be 2011.
AIC seriously considered a comeback, the effort they've put into this is just magnificent. It is not simply an appreciation album. It's a showcase of what the new lineup are capable doing and setting their pace on where to go musically. In various interviews, the band had shown interest in recording another studio album in the near future. I guess BGWTB is just the beginning. I personally see lots of potential in this band.
