CSS is an acronym for Cascading Style Sheets, ( CSS ) a style-sheet language, is used for describing presentation semantics for structured markup languages such as HTML, XML, and others. CSS and Documents is a chapter excerpt from the upcoming book CSS: The Definitive Guide, 4th Edition, by Eric A. Meyer. Meyer is an internationally recognized expert on the subjects of HTML, CSS and web standards.

The 3rd edition of CSS: The Definitive Guide was published in 2006. Much has changed in web design since then. We have seen the coming of HTML5, CSS 3, AJAX, DOM scripting, CSS pre-processors, responsive web design, CSS frameworks such as Twitter Bootstrap, the 960 and other grid systems, CSS resets, shims, polyfills, and minify. Forgive any omissions should my list be incomplete. Suffice to say, we are a long way from the days of table based layout and the font tag.

I found CSS and Documents to be a good read. It's not long at 25 pages. I anxiously await the full book release and recommend this teaser chapter excerpt. Grab a copy for your favorite ebook reading device.

Disclosure: I received a free e-book copy for review purposes.
