excellent recipes, but very time consuming!,
This review is from: Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook (Hardcover)
I have been a fan of Isa's since Vegan with a Vengeance, so I picked this book up as soon as it was released! I am not vegan, just lactose intolerant, so I use these recipes when I want things that are creamy or cheesy without using any dairy. Overall, the recipes are delicious (make the ancho chile lentil soup now!!), but many take an hour or two from start to end, and a few are too bland for my taste (the pumpkin baked ziti with sage breadcrumbs needed a LOT of hot sauce before I found it flavorful). The book really excels at providing careful instructions for inexperienced and soon-to-be chefs and the commentary is really funny and helpful. Overall, I will use this book a lot, but I would like to echo others' pleas for quicker to make recipes, NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION!, and more photos!

I agree, VegNews recently recommended the baked ziti with pumpkin and sage breadcrumbs, and I made it. It looked great, but was super-bland. Oh well, my dad liked it a lot. Though I've made a lot of the recipes and they're really flavorful. I do wish there was nutritional info, desperately, and more photos!
