This review is from: When Farts Had Colors (Kindle Edition)
Okay so you are probably asking why am I reviewing a book call When Farts Had colors. Well it is all because of my nephews. Both of my nephews ages 18 and 11 where bullied in school. Most recently the 11 year old. They were affected by this like all kids who are bullied. Me and there mother (my sister) did what we could to fix the issues, which were to pull them from public schools. My oldest nephew is thriving now. he is in college and majoring in computer engineering. Woohoo!! The youngest he is trying to move past it. Unlike his brother though, his bullying was physical, a couple of kids tried to beat him up. So when I saw this book I thought that it is perfect for him to read. Too bad we don't live in a world where kids were not bullied. If I had a wish kiss like Lance had I would wish for a bully free world.

On to the book review, I really enjoyed it. Yes I read the book. It did have some cute funny parts. I may be a female but I laugh at fart jokes too and I was laughing my head off. So in this book we have Lance Chance who is bullied by Merry Maddox and her crew Fred and Ted. They are also known as the crazy M&M's, I think because they are always eating M&M's. Lance is also lactose intolerant and his mom doesn't help the situation by feeding him cheese and milk. This results in Lance occasionally passing gas. Well on Monday Lance leaves for school after he gets his wish kiss from his mom. She says that he is allowed to get one wish that day. Once at school Merry and her crew bullies and harasses Lance. The get Lance in trouble when Merry breaks wind and it smells so bad that the teacher pulls the fire alarm and then passes out. Merry blames it all on Lance and he is so embarrassed that he leaves school and hides at a neighbor's house. While hiding he makes his wish and wishes that farts had colors. Wouldn't you know it, everyone now farts in color. It ends up giving Lance an idea on how to get Merry in trouble. Lance does and saves the day.

I thought that this was a cute story that teaches kids about bullying. I know that the story is extravagant but it shows that you don't have to stoop to their level to prevail in the end. The author does a great job in writing a child's level but also making it where an adult can read it with the child. He also talks about bullying in the end of the book and talks about how to stop it in ways like telling and adult and such.

I think that the way the author perceives adults is accurate in a child's eyes. We sometimes can be oblivious to what can be going on and not see what is really there.

Overall:

Get this book. Rather or not you have a child that is bullied, they should read it. I recommend reading it with them and talking about bullying. You would be surprised by what they tell you. It is a cute, fun story and I think the author did a great job.
