Very nice watch,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AVI-8 Men's AV-SET1-05 Hawker Harrier II Analog Japanese-Quartz Black Watch and Wallet (Watch)
I'm writing this review after having worn this watch for several weeks, so I can't speak to aspects like durability or reliability. So far it kept time well and has been very comfortable to wear. I bought it after intensely searching for a watch that looked casual and robust, and the cockpit feel gives it a very nice touch. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it could have been taken one step further in this direction. The dial is grainy and has an unfinished quality to it which enhances this feel, but the arms and sides of the bevel are still too polished and shiny, something you can't see in the picture. The upper surface of the bevel is matte, and this is how all other metal surfaces should have been. The band is not leather, but at this price leatherette will do just fine and you can't tell if you don't touch it. Good value.
PS My wrists are thin, so a 42mm watch already feels large. My advice for AVI-8 and all other watch designers is to make available some popular designs in 40mm, they would sell well, I bet.

would you be so kind as to more fully describe the "COCKPIT FEEL"? Perhaps you should look at THIS WATCH; it has a LEATHER band, and the Buckle, Case, AND BEZEL are all black matte ion finished. Alas, the case diameter is 44mm so it may not be desirable to one with "thin wrists, however, AVI-8 has a number of watches that fit your desire for a "matte" case and BEZEL (not "bevel").

JHP, thanks for your post. By the tone & content I will venture to assume you're a rep for the manufacturer or distributor. As such, let me start with a very friendly advice - it's quite bad form to correct customers on minor typos, or to put their comments in quotation form as it can falsely or truly suggest snarkiness. I am already a net promoter of your brand, but alienation is a real risk... Anyway, what I meant by the cockpit feel is the rugged and functional look of the dial and limbs which you can find in any analog cockpit dashboard. Any shiny surfaces there feel out-of-place and that's what I meant with regard to the BEZEL and limbs. You have very nice designs, but again, you lock yourselves out of a larger market by limiting your sizes to 42 and above for most models. Regarding my watch: I've had it now for many months, I changed the armband to brown leather and it works, looks, and feels great! I still think it's great value, just don't ruin the PR for AVI-8... ;)

FYI-No, just an Amazon customer looking at this brand because they were on sale. I found your description of "the cockpit feel" to be amusing - lighten up!

Sure you are!... :) the cockpit feel is indeed so amusing I laughed myself to death when I came up with it. Not as funny as "thin wrists" (hilarious concept) and the bevel thing (stand-up comedy stuff)...
