Customer Review

Okay, I'm probably going to get some flack for this, but I can't understand all the 4 and 5 star ratings on this one. Aside from the wonderful instrumental, Captain Nemo, and a couple other solid tracks, this is by far the weakest release of the MSG lineup with Gary Barden on vocals. This record has the sense of contract obligation as it would be the last Michael would record for Chrysalis and sounds thrown together compared to the records released before and after (Assault Attack prior and Perfect Timing after). Although the Bonnet/Schenker combination couldn't last due to personality differences, it yielded a very tough record to follow. Gary is a disappointment on this record. The Derek St. Holmes vocal track (Still Love That Little Devil) doesn't seem to fit anywhere on here either. Although a lot of people don't seem to like the MacAuley version of MSG, I think Michael made a good decision recruiting Robin after this record. The best tracks from this can be found on compilations. Pick this up only if you're a collector and certainly after you get the previous three MSG records. 2 1/2 stars at best. Sorry...
