A bit noisier than expected; cools nicely and works well,

I haven't had a window unit for many years and I had high expectations for a modern one, but those weren't met. I found the noise level in my 10'x10' children's bedroom to be loud, even on low. Setting the fan speed to medium or high makes the sound much louder than I'd want. We actually use the low partly for white noise so the kids will sleep through the night, but if you are expecting this to be quiet you'll be disappointed. You can hear both the fan and the compressor.
It cools very well and has many features that are useful. You can set the temperature to a particular value (not just low/med/high) and it appears both on the unit and on the remote. You can set the unit so it used the temperature at the remote to turn on or off or you can just use the sensor in the unit itself. It can be timed to turn on or off after a certain time and the sleep mode gradually raises the temperature a few degrees throughout the night before lowering it before wakeup to save energy. All these features work fairly well. The remote is kind of utilitarian looking, but very functional.
There is an ionizing air filter feature that we have on because our son has allergies but we aren't noticing a difference.

I am using the ionizing feature, and with a cat and dog, plus the spring trees and flowers blooming, my allergies are acting up. I definitely DO notice a change for the better in air quality when this a/c is running.
