5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing!!, February 14, 2014
This review is from: Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, 32GB (Wi-Fi), Black (Personal Computers)
For those who've rated this low because of the size, do your research. Duh! It's a 12.2 inch tablet.

I'm a cartoonist and really wasn't excited about spending $2K on a Wacom Cintiq Companion. I spent all of yesterday using this Samsung for drawing, web browsing, and calendar use. This is the best tablet I've ever owned and will use it daily. Yes, it's a bit on the expensive side, but for me, with how much I will be using it, and what I'll be using it for, I can more than justify the cost.

Nice to read a review from a fellow artist on the Note Pro 12.2. I bought one also, for drawing as well as the usual tablet duties. Loving it so far! Just curious, how do you like drawing with it compared to a Cintiq? I was pleased to find it a breeze to draw with, using apps like Sketchbook Pro, Paperless, Artflow, FlipAClip (awesome for traditional hand animation) etc.

I agree with you, as a quite capable production tool the price is justified.

Thanks for the apps list. I would add Word, but it's not exactly for drawing.

I agree, I think that for artists, this is the only tablet for drawing, painting, etc. Hopefully, Android will eventually catch up with the best of the iOS art apps, but for sketching and drawing, The S pen is infinitely better then normal stylus action.

BTW, There is 13" Wacom (13HD Cintiq or something like this) tablet for $1K here on Amazon. Just to be fair, looks more affordable than $2K. But,... It's bigger and heavier (1.2kg vs 0.75kg Note Pro), Which makes it more like a portable all-in-one desktop. On the positive side it probably uses (I din't check) standard Wacom stylus with pressure/angle/rotation sesitivity. Note Pro does not recognize Wacom styluses, none of the two I tried.

I think the Cintiq you're referring to is a tethered display not a true standalone tablet. Wacom does make the Cintiq companion (full Windows 8 tablet) and hybrid (display and Android tablet) but they're pretty pricey.

The Galaxy Note tablets and phones will work with just about any Wacom penabled stylus made for tablet PCs. (Has to be the wacom varient). Example: Penabled Tablet Pc Eraser Pen

You're right though, it doesnt work with Cintiq or other Wacom tablet stylus.

I am an artist too. That is why I am looking at the tablet. I don't know if I will draw on it but I want to be able to upload my digital pictures from my Sony VIO. I want to be able to paint from it as well as use it for my art business and teaching. Drawing will be an added bonus especially if I can edit photos on it. (Will I be able to do that?) Will I be able to transfer my pictures from my computer to the tablet? I have to tell you that all the artists I know have ipads. They paint from them. They are an extension of their creativity. I don't want an apple. I am hoping this tablet is a good alternative.

you can definitely transfer pictures over to the tablet and paint/draw. my significant other is a graphic designer and we both have our own Note Pro 12.2 - she uses Sketchbook Pro, Artflow, Sketchbook for Galaxy, Infinite Painter, Fresco Paint Pro, and Paperless for drawing/painting. many of these apps are compatible with adobe photoshop and i think also illustrator.

Thanks for the information. I went to Best Buy and looked at one. I did not think the 12.2 was that heavy or too big. I won't be able to put it in my purse though. I was very impressed with it. I don't think it will take the place of my computer but it is certainly more portable. I will definitely be able to use it while teaching. It is expensive though. Would you advise getting the extended warranty?

Hey Cody, You should try an app on Google Play store called "Infinite Design" ...if you're into drawing, i highly suggest you check it out. It works great on my Note 2 phone so i cant imagine how much fun it is on a 12 inch tablet
