Customer Review

This is a movie about a human tragedy not to mention incompetence & heartbreak. If you need Saw or good old Jaws like theatre you miss the boat here.

Based on a true story of a couple that go scuba diving off a tour boat with 18 other people & get left in the ocean. A miscount takes place due to a vacationer entering the water late. There is no hero, no uplifting spirit & no happy ending. It is bleak. When my wife & I came out of this show everyone was in a stunned state of mind. Many were angry & vocal about it. Not that they had been ripped off but rather that the movie left you emotionally spent & distraught. My wife was so mad at how upset she got she was cussing like a sailor. Not a normal activity for her. There is more than just one bad decision in this show.

I am aware there are a number of bad reviews for this show but people seem to think it was supposed to be a fun, scary & tense kinda show you know like "Dude there is going to be sharks eating people". To them I say what did you think a movie about people abandoned in the ocean would be like? There is no barracuda battles, no octopuses to eat, no heroic staving off of a shark attack. This couple didn't get to go back to the beach & treat their jelly fish stings. Did you expect for them to go skinny dipping for your enjoyment. Floating in the water till the end is all they had. It's either being picked up or die. The interminable waiting for an almost certain death was exactly what these two humans lived & died through. You were put through it as they were. Based on a real story remember?

All of the people I know that saw this movie knew before hand that it was a true story made to highlight the loss of two family members & the lack of regulations governing this activity. I guess there wasn't enough action & blood for some to understand the heartbreak of the living family members. Blanchard Ryan & Daniel Travis took a movie that was tedious work & made a good job of showing the very real actions & emotions these two must have gone through. The bodies maybe were never found but the camera with their vacation pictures was taken out of a shark's belly. I wonder about those reviews & how it would have been if they showed the people being eaten slowly alive one at a time & instead of the camera, why not half of a head in the sharks belly.

This is a bleak show with no ending to cheer for. It's emotionally draining with no heroes. I highly recommend 1 viewing. You'll remember it so you won't need 2.
