Anyone who's tried installing Windows onto "removable media" has learned the lessons and hassles of workarounds such as the Hitachi CFADisk.sys drivers, or duping the install process by launching on a VHD to be interrupted and replicated to CF cards and the rest of the bs like substituting Embedded versions with their own unique bugs.
But so far, this Syba's controller has presented every CF card to Windows as Fixed instead of Removable including cards including recalcitrant Lexar UDMA Pro Series from 233 to 400x along with the friendlier Transcend that Addonics always mounted as removable.
Just successfully installed Server 2008 DC onto an antiquated 32GB 233 Lexar, installed Windows 8 Pro onto a 400x Transcend without the usual hiccups and crashes setup.exe vomits over removable disks. Whether in the SATA port or the USB slot, they mount as fixed and it makes experimenting with Windows at better than spindle speeds a reality that nerdinga's and boomerangers insist aren't as fast as true SSD's which may or may not be true since unoptimized Windows can stress and waste any SSD worse than the NJ Governors airplane.
