Attached hard drives do not spin down ever, even after unmounting. Drives are sitting there, red hot, 100% of the time.
There is no on/off button to shut it off, either. A waste of energy and money and potential damage to your drives and data.
I inquired with customer service as to why there was no spin-down even after the USB cable is unplugged and they said "because the power cord is still attached."
