2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work on moist cupcakes, April 2, 2011
By
This review is from: Cuisipro Cupcake Corer and Decorating Set (Kitchen)
I was so excited to get the product and try it out. It sounds like such a great idea! Unfortunately, the cupcakes I make are too moist for the corer to work. When I push the corer down it squishes the cake rather than cuts through it. I believe had I made a drier cake it would work better, but I prefer moist cupcakes, and therefore for me the corer is rather useless. The squeeze decoratorers are great, but horrible to clean out. Scraping frosting out of the insides of the folds is so painful I think next time I'll just go with the simple plastic bag option. As another reviewer mentioned, the tips don't hold standard size decoration tips which is a huge disappointment. Bottom line: great concept, completely inpractical.

Hi Joanna,

I've been looking for a good moist cupcake recipe. Would you be willing to share yours?

I used the corer on Funfetti cupcakes (which are pretty spongy and soft) and it worked great! Did you wait for the cupcakes to cool completely before using the corer? That makes all the difference!

I only like to make moist cupcakes, as well and it worked well - I made sure the cupcakes cooled completely before using the corer on it.
