I know innovation and creativity are quite alive and well in American business. I just marvel at Apple and Steve Job's as a clear, contemporary, technical era example of this. It is no small marvel (perhaps a miracle combined with good luck) that Jobs brought Apple back from the brink of bankruptcy with the iMac which were followed by the iPod, iPhone and iPad product lines which catapulted Apple into the $B revenue stratosphere. Apple's strong cash position is the other metric I apply in my calculus of their success -- not just the innovativeness its product line expresses.
It's yet to be revealed whether Cook, Jobs' successor has the gravitas to maintain and exceed Jobs' achievements. Cook may be well on his way though with Apple's Fall 2014 unveiling of the iPhone 6 and the computer watch. So, Jobs' legacy may well be in most capable hands.
