5.0 out of 5 stars Clean, Understated Design, October 11, 2012
This review is from: Citizen Eco-Drive Men's AU1040-08E Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
I've had this watch for two weeks and I like it. I wear it all the time. I would recommend this watch.

Positives
-Clean, understated, uncluttered design.
-The simple face and prominent hands are very legible. I can always tell the time in a quick glance.
-This watch has no second hand, which I like. I never use the second hand anyway.
-Size is not too big and not too small. Many modern watches are very large.
-Looks nice but doesn't look too fancy or expensive.
-The luminous hands keep their glow all night, so you can see the time easily if you wake up in the middle of the night.
-Never needs a battery.
-Seems very durable so far.
-Comfortable strap that is not too thick or bulky.

Negatives
-I don't like the alligator pattern pressed into the leather of the strap, but this is not very noticeable.

Dear Ian,

Thanks for your review of the Citizen Men's AU1040-08E, it is certainly one of the most helpful. You were one of the few to mention the lume on the hands for viewing in the dark. I'm glad that you said it has a bright blue glow. I have a question: is there lume on all twelve hour stations, ie do they glow too? Or is the lume just on the watch hands themselves? Maybe just at 12, 3, 6 and 9? (some watches do that) Having a little glow at each hour would help in the dark bu it's not a deal breaker. Hope you see this question, and thanks.

Ian Morris says:
There is a small area of lume on all 12 hour markers where they meet the outer edge of the dial. The lume does not cover the whole marker, but it is sufficient to identify the hour markers in the dark.

Ian,

I was really hoping that was the case. Thanks so much!
