3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as other T-fal, September 25, 2012
This review is from: Jamie Oliver by T-fal C942SA Nonstick Hard Anodized Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Cookware Set, 10-Piece, Black (Kitchen)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Previously, I've owned the New - T-fal D913SC64 Signature Hard Anodized 12-Piece Cookware Set by T-fal, which I loved. I expected to feel the same way about this T-fal set. I was especially excited to try the square grill pan.

I seasoned the pans as directed, then I used the square grill pan for frying up some pork chops (something my other set of T-fal excels at). I couldn't believe how badly those chops stuck to the pan! Even after soaking the pan in hot, soapy water for an hour, I still had to use a lot of elbow grease to get it clean! It wasn't a matter of cooking it wrong either... The first time, I cooked them exactly the same as I do with my other pans. The second time, I used a much lower temperature (thinking that I may have accidentally cooked at too high a temperature the first time). Even using the lowest temperature, the chops still stuck!

After a little research, I think I've figured out why. T-fal has two different manufacturers produce their pans. My previous set (the D913SC64) is made in France. This Jamie Oliver set is made in China, and it shows. T-fal, I'm disappointed.

I was contemplating buying this set, but the reviewer's revelation about place of manufacture sealed the deal for me. I have a very good set of TFal now, and I was going to give it to my son as he moved out, but I do not want to replace it with an inferior set.

I could not say it better than Kelly, "I was contemplating buying this set, but the reviewer's revelation about place of manufacture sealed the deal for me. " And THANK YOU to MamaBear007 for giving us the review that pointed out the origin of manufacture. I also have some T-Fal cookware, all made in France, and I have seen and inspected the Made in China versions. They don't compare. I love the T-Fal that I own but will not discard it for an inferior replacement. I will continue to use my originals until I can find some replacement T-Fal that is either Made in France or better yet, Made in U.S.A. Thank you both for this valuable information.

For those who are looking to replace their existing pans (or buy a set as a gift), this is the one I bought earlier this year, and it still is A-one in my book:

T-fal D913SC64 Signature Hard Anodized Oven Safe Nonstick Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator 12-Piece Cookware Set, Gray/Black

I fully expect it to last for several years, but if I ever have to replace it, it will be with the same exact set.

don't be short sighted, who is the evil one? the company! their order decides the quality, none of china's business! if they pay more money for material and techneque, china can make the perfect quality like anyone does!
