I purchased this battery back in June, for my NEX-3C which finally arrived in August. The OEM battery that came with the camera works fine. But THIS battery, which from the label appears to be a genuine Sony battery, is rejected by my NEX-3C, saying "incorrect battery" and the camera locks up. Putting it in the charger doesn't help.
The seller says it's not his problem; go talk to the manufacturer. Well, you Sony fans know what that means. I think they should exchange it, of course, but by the time my new NEX-3C arrived, it was too late.
The labels are slightly different on the two batteries, but both say NPFW50 and Sony branding. I'm guessing some minor bug in the battery's internal secret codes etc that allow recognition.
It's somewhat bastardly for manufacturers to design devices such that only that mfr's batteries can be used. Nikon does this too.
I tolerate it because the products (NEX cameras, and Nikon cameras) are so good that I will pay more, or pay twice to get batteries that work. Sigh.
