I've been an owner for 24 hours. I am returning the unit because it does not dual-boot into separate Linux distros as stated on the Archos website. When I called Archos support I was told in order to dual-boot I would have to download the "developer's firmware", which if I installed, would void my warranty.
Go to the manufacturer's website, select the 101, and select the Tablet PC tab. It clearly states "Out of the box it comes with Linux Android and Linux Ångström distributions as standard...Switching between them is as simple as tapping an icon displayed on the desktop of both distributions." Well the Archos 101 comes out of the box with no such thing. I'm not going to trust that I find all the other irritants and misrepresentations before the week is up, so back this baby goes.
In landscape view the presentation is ok, in portrait view it is almost impossible to see anything lacking sharp contrasts. For instance, one application has black text with a red background. I can read it fine on my cell phone, it is impossible to read on the 101 in portrait view.
Update: It took a BBB complaint (BBB Complaint ID#: 75142043) to get a refund. Very poor customer service.
