A good value,
This review is from: Citizen Eco-Drive Men's AT4010-50E Titanium Perpetual Chrono A-T Watch (Watch)
If you live in the continental USA this Citizen AT4010-50E is probably one of the most accurate watches you can own. The radio synchronization feature re-sets the watch every night. You can spend thousands of dollars on a Rolex or an Omega Speedmaster... But you will not find a more accurate watch than a radio controlled quartz watch. If you are not familiar with radio controlled watches... You need to place them near a window facing Colorado. (Where the WWVB radio station broadcasts a 60 kHz signal.) If you live on the east coast or west coast you will probably not receive the signal in the daytime. But it will work late at night when the watch tries to synch up at 2:00am.
On the other hand... If you live in Hawaii, Alaska or many places on earth where the watch cannot receive a signal and synch... This watch is not particularly accurate. Probably not more accurate than a $20 Quartz Timex. (+/- 15 seconds per month is typical for inexpensive quartz watches.)
The Titanium case and bracelet seem well made. If you have never had a Titanium watch... They are about 1/2 the weight of stainless steel. For a large watch like this one... the titanium makes a big difference. Titanium also is hypoallergenic and feels warmer to the touch. On the downside... some people feel that it scratches more easily than stainless. But you can always re-brush the watch with a scotch-brite pad or take it to a jeweler and have it polished up. I am a bit concerned about the black bezel around the crystal. I am not sure what this black material is or how easily it will scratch. It appears to be some sort of PVC coating. Also the crystal sticks up above the bezel to the edges of the glass are exposed making it subject to chipping. This is the first watch I have owned with an anti-refelction coating on the sapphire crystal. The anti-refelctive coating gives the watch face a deeper & richer look. I will also say the face is quite attractive. I am pretty sure the actual face material is mostly plastic to let the light penetrate the solar cell... But it looks like metal. The luminous hands are just average brightness. They fade after exposure to light like most "glow in the dark" paint. I wish this watch had an LED light for night viewing. But alas no. Overall this watch looks more impressive in person than photos. I like the looks of it.
For those who say the watch is too complex... I think you should not buy things that look complex. I found this watch to be VERY SIMPLE to understand. Basically you set the time zone... Set it near a window at night and that's it. You don't need to wind it. You don't need to set it. It tells time and date. What could be more simple than that? Sure it has an alarm. It has a primitive stopwatch. But like most owners you will probably not use those much.
I will mention that to use the stop watch or alarm you have to pull the crown out and change to mode dial. I was somewhat disappointed that you have to remove the watch from your wrist to use the stopwatch or set the alarm. To me it's odd that Citizen chooses to use the buttons to check radio synch instead of more commonly used functions like the stopwatch. I would rather pull the crown to check the radio synch if it gave me access to the stopwatch. Also... the stopwatch does not have a sub second hand. If you need 1/10th of a second precision this watch will not satisfy you.
In summery this is a very nice looking watch made from real Titanium. Here are some pros and cons.
1. You don't need to change the battery for 20 years. (Solar powered.)
2. If you live in the Continental USA you don't need to set the watch. (Supper Atomic accuracy)
3. Lightweight Titanium case.
4. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
5. Attractive analog indicators for time & date.
6. Alarm if you need it.
1. Stopwatch and Alarm require you to remove the watch from your wrist and pull the crown.
2. Black bezel may scratch. (Wait and see...)
3. Stopwatch is only accurate to 1 full second.
4. Must remove watch & pull crown to set alarm.
5. Titanium scratches slightly more easily than SS... But weighs 1/2. (And can be polished easily at home.)

Did the black bezel hold up over time?
