This game goes like this:
Every hour you play it, it's an exciting, riveting, action packed tale with superb acting. The writing is genius, the graphics are tweaked compared to prior games to look nicer. Many things are improved. The action in the game is "funner" in the sense that it's more engaging. Seeing how your choices unfolded was highly rewarding. For my main character's career, it was 28 hours of brilliance.
Then there was the last ten minutes. No matter the outcome, how much you prepare, choices made, none of it matters in such a lazy ending that leaves you so underwhelmed you will no longer feel the need to do a replay. Knowing that in the end, no choice you made or preparation taken matters is a frustrating dissappointment. In the end there is no catharsis for the story arc, no epilogue, and completely illogical unrelated outcomes. In reality, the endings are just one ending with quite literally a different shade of color slapped over. I don't mean that figuratively, IT'S THE EXACT SAME SEQUENCE WITH A DIFFERENT SHADE OF COLOR, LITERALLY!
I'd really like to go back and play the first two, but the buildup of the story arcs are totally irrelevant. The ending is so poor that I no longer find any fun in spending anymore time at all in the entire series. There's nothing worth discovering anymore. Nothing worth doing, the lights went down and Bioware really left us on a bad note. They'll likely release some DLC or director's cut type of thing, but it won't fix the ending. At this point nothing they do can fix the broken story with no catharsis or meaning. If they had done a Dragon Age 1 type of ending that just has some text saying "so and so went on to this, this other guy went crazy and made a rocket chair and was never heard from, etc" it would have gone a long way at least, but the endings they made don't allow for that.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER-ish!
No matter what ending you pick, it pretty much means stellar extinction predicated that everything is isolated now with high population areas likely starving to death or suffering mass economic collapse due to no galactic transportation anymore. You'll have such imbalances of power and such destruction that the races now have billions on planets with no way to transport supplies and agriculture on most worlds utterly ruined to the point that following the logic made available, likely everyone starves to death in an unescapable survival situation. This is regardless of the ending you choose. The reapers will still accomplish their goal even if each reaper is destroyed down to the last.
