I like it,
This review is from: Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8-Quart Pot with Glass Lid and 2 Inserts (Kitchen)
I got this for 30% off at Williams-Sonoma, so I think I got quite a bargain. I've been looking for a good steamer, so it's nice to have this set. Now I can try that baby bok choy recipe I'd been eyeing. I also like the pasta insert idea, though haven't used it yet. However, I'm confused by one of the other reviewers who said that the pasta insert doesn't go to the bottom of the pot. I think perhaps that person is mistaking it for the steamer? My pasta insert goes to the bottom of the pan, as the picture shows. Convenient not to have to use a separate colander, just lift up.
But the bonus for me is that the lid to this fits the lid to the everday pan! I lost mine in a move, and have missed it terribly. I probably paid for the entire set what I would have had to for the replacement lid off sale. So, I'm psyched.
This does seem to be a little less well made than most of the contemporary stainless. For example, the handles on my everyday pan never get hot, and I like that. But, using a mitt isn't a huge deal, and I'm just happy to add to my collection. The contemporary stainless is probably the most beautiful of the calphalon pans, and the more I get of it, the better.
