4.0 out of 5 stars Great ultrabook but...., June 10, 2012

This review is from: Samsung Series 9 NP900X3C-A01US 13.3-Inch Ultrabook (Ash Black) (Personal Computers)
With the new ivy bridge and intel HD4000 graphics, this is the best ultrabook on the market. Period.

However, there's one thing buyers should know- this NP900X3C is using Sandisk SSD. Not Samsung SSD like NP900X3B.
You won't feel the difference very much in everyday use but the benchmark numbers show the Samsung SSD is far superior than Sandisk.

do you know if the ram and/or ssd is upgradeable?

Hey
Thanks for the review. Can you please tell me how does it perform in terms of battery life? I am thinking about buying a macbook air but I think it might be too expensive (I am from Portugal). This one is thinner, lighter and cheaper. It's also made of aluminum and the screen is a lot better in my opinion. The battery life is my only concern... If you could give me some insight it would be great.
Thanks

RAM - No.
SSD - maybe yes. if you can find a same type of SSD that's installed here. However that might void your warranty.

I think it's somewhere around 5~hrs. I never use that long outside so can't be sure. I have no problem with the life.

I'm really trying my hardest to stay away from Apple and will use the Air as a last resort. However, they just released their updated Air with great features (8G RAM, i7 Processor, 256GB SSD, etc). Would you REALLY recommend this computer? Is 4G of RAM really worth it, in addition to a 128SSD? I also hear that the overal display is better than the air

I was also trying to stay away from apple products but right now I think the air is the best option. If you look at the review of laptopmag you'll see the battery has actually improved and the disks are much faster, as well the graphic performance. It is even cheaper than this samsung. The thing that made me choose air over samsung was the fact that if you want to have the same kind of battery life you get on the air, you'll have to turn battery saving mode on and performance will drastically decrease. The mac os x has a better power management.

Is this the latest model Series 9? I know Samsung said they are refreshing them mid-June, but no idea what the model number is or if this is it. I'm guessing it's not...

yes it is. The previous model was 900x3b and this one is 900x3c. It has the new ivy bridge processor and better battery life and better screen, among other things.

You're looking for either :

NP900X3C-A01US
or
NP900X3C-A03US

Both of which are the new Series 9 with the ivy bridge processor (13.3")

Have they fixed the problem of poor wifi speeds that has plagued the series 9?
