This review is from: Archos 80 G9 8GB - Classic (Personal Computers)
My sister purchased this tablet for her boyfriend as per my advise based on research of this product. She was looking for a resonably priced tablet that he could use to surf the net and play games. Out of the box it looked great; but here is what you need to know before you purchase this tablet. Pros: (1) Looks sturdy, nice feel to tablet (2) 8 inch size not a problem (3) Operating system is a nice improvement over the previous Archos tablets. (4) WiFi okay. (5) Claims that this product has Android Market, but we never got to try it out. (6) Easy set up. THE PROBLEMS: (1) Sometimes a blueish hue will appear in the rightnlower corner when ever you bring a menu that is located there. I don't think that this is an isolated problem because someone else's review said the exact same thing. (2) When playing youtube and switching to a new video, the volume momentarily gets louder (almost like the speakers are being driven into distortion) every time you touch the screen- The sounds stablizes once you are no longer using the virtual key board. (3) Screen resolution is NOT all that impressive. (4) The system says that there is a firmware updated needed (perhaps this would fix some of the problems), however the Archos tablet will NOT update completely (it starts and then an error message pops up). Other users complain of the same difficulties. THE BOTTOM LINE IS: This tablet has the potential to be a great unit, but as of yet, it is not worth your hard to come by money. Good Luck!
