Does not get easier,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dropcam Pro Wi-Fi Wireless Video Monitoring Security Camera (Camera)
I ordered the Dropcam Pro yesterday and it arrived today. I had already downloaded the app to my phone and tablet in anticipation of the arrival. I opened the box to find attractive packaging and a quality looking product. I grabbed my phone plugged the USB into a wall and connected the camera using the included micro USB port. By the time I had opened the app the camera was already doing its thing.
The app prompts you to sign in or create an account with minimal personal information. From there it suggested that it could 'look' for cameras, I tapped the screen and it immediately locates the camera. Next it asks you to select your desired wifi network and prompted me for the password. Once I typed the password in the camera feed immediately appeared on screen.
I have dabbled in a few other wifi security cameras but it does not get any easier than this. A generous angle view is satisfactory for the lack of a pan feature (meaning there is no motor to go bad). An interesting software trick precludes the need for mechanical zoom (meaning there is no motor to go bad). Some applications may desire a more traditional zoom but this one is pretty good for average use.
No it isn't going to replace the $900 dollar Panasonic I work with in my day job but I love this little camera. I wouldn't leave it on or in a super secure location mainly owing to my own paranoia at having a stream of video beamed into cyberspace, but if you have a techno lacking friend or loved one that needs a nice security/nanny/baby/bad dog camera, this is a true plug and play application.

Hi, did you buy the camera from the Amazon web site or from the Dropcam web site? I'm curious as you got it in a day. Thanks!
