Best Kindle rendition I have seen so far.,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus (Including The English Faust Book) (Kindle Edition)
This review is exclusively for the $.99 Kindle edition of Christopher Marlowe's play, Doctor Faustus.
I bought this edition primarily to be able to compare it with Goethe's Faust versions, so all I really needed was the ability to search the text. What I found was much, much more, plus a superb port of the material to the Kindle.
The Table of Contents tells the whole story, as it is longer than any table of contents I have seen in any other Kindle editin, because there are at least four different works in this $1 package. There are two versions of the play, an "English Faust Book", and a "Life of Christopher Marlowe".
There are two drawbacks to this edition, but they are only a problem if you use it for scholarly work. The first is that the footnotes are not "active". You cannot click on the number and be taken to the note (I have several scholarly books on Kindle where you can do this). The second is that there is no correspondence to a printed paper copy page number. Rules for scholarly citations by page number have not caught up with electronic book readers yet.
Like so many public domain texts, for a dollar, this Kindle version is a real steal.
