EVE Online is a game made specifically for griefers. The gameplay is 100% griefer-oriented and anyone who is not a griefer is a victim. This goes a long way towards explaining why EVE has an anemic 100,000 active users worldwide (God only knows how it survives). EVE is Mafia Wars crossed with a stock market simulator, but in space. Its a mutant aberration with a soul full of hate. And its not even a well designed mutant aberration, either. Its buggy, full of missing content and broken game mechanics that are left unfixed year after year, and it regards the ideas of "balance" or "fairness" as pure heresy. EVE is about joining a giant corporation as soon as you leave the tutorial, because soloing is not possible in a world of universal PvP..a world where its mathematically impossible to ever match the power of those who've been in the game longer. It was written by some Icelandic guys who wanted the kind of game they'd always wanted. A game with internet spaceships where they could never lose. They really mean it, too, because the GMs play the game - and they play it to win, as members of the largest and most powerful corporations. They've been caught cheating many times and in each case basically told the community to get stuffed. The truly sad thing about this game is that at its core, its a great concept: tactical space combat, trading, mining, exploration. Unfortunately its little more than a rigged casino where the house (or the nearest pirate with more game time than you) always wins. But hey, if that's your kind of experience, by all means, go play EVE. At least you won't be stinking up the real MMOs. If you really need more detail than this, there are innumerable independent reviews of this steaming pile.
