Good, but not Great,
This review is from: Angels Are for Real: Inspiring, True Stories and Biblical Answers (Paperback)
Angels have been, and will continue to be, a vital part of God's Kingdom--from creation to Jesus' birth and ascension to the end of days. Throughout the ages they have been messengers, protectors, healers, comforters and more to the people of God. Sometimes their presence is as subtle as a whisper of wind, other times as visible as the sun.
In this accessible, comprehensive and encouraging guide, Judith MacNutt pulls back the curtain on these intriguing heavenly beings. She offers insight and many stories of miraculous encounters, revealing what the Bible says about
what angels look like
what they do
why they are important in believers' lives
the heavenly hierarchy
what fallen angels are
When you begin to grasp the importance of angels to God--and your very own life--you will better understand God's power and His extraordinary love for you.
I love inspiring stories and the Bible is real to me. So I'm always ready to read stories about angels and their impact on our lives. The author breaks down the different assignments and classes angels have, and I definitely related to guardian angel testimonies. I've listened to many missionaries and others who were in peril that did not know each other who all had warrior angel type protection stories. I know because of my Bible reading and personal experiences there is a fallen angel who is out to seek, kill, and destroy. This book explores and explains all of these things in detail and made for an engaging read.
What is a bit of a negative is a lot of the testimonies are marked anonymous and their credit isn't always given directly to Christ. It's important to know angels are messengers and they are not God, nor should angels be worshiped. The testimonies, as inspiring as they are, needed a bit of clarification, I believe, in that manner.
The author references Billy Graham and his book on angels and I confess, I need to do the same. Angels Are for Real is a good book and I recommend it. But Billy Graham's book is great, and I highly suggest you make it a double read and take both of these books on. Angels Are For Real alone leaves me wanting a bit more. Complemented with Billy Graham's book, it's a complete read.
I received Angels are for Real from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
