Stop/start reading experience,

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This book seems to have everything I look for in a novel, from its setting to story to style. That said, every time I pick it up, I find my interest level whiplashed by the changing narrators and what feels like a lack of focus. I also guessed what would be coming pretty easily and an air of mystery about the plot would have helped keep me hooked.
I've had this book for quite some time and it's a real stop/start read. I read for a while and get irritated and frustrated with the shifts. I've read entire books in the time I've had this in my "to read" pile. I enjoy a complicated story and I prefer that what I read challenges me but this is a matter of structure, not of the story per se but of the book itself. Maybe it feels gimmicky to me. I wonder how much power the story would lose if it were two stories told without interruption in the same volume.
I wonder if I may just expect too much from it based on other reviews. It's not one I'm going to pick first out of the pile when I'm looking for something to read but I am hesitant to abandon it completely. If someone wanted to borrow it, I'd have no qualms about lending it but I wouldn't be eager to get it back.
