It wasn't until well after "Just Like The Fambly Cat" was released that I became a fan of the late, great Grandaddy. I thought, "well, at least...". So I check this album out without having heard anything off it and it just blew me away - I felt like this was a new (and terrific) Grandaddy album!! Usually I'd mock or deride a band for copying the style of a predecessor, but honestly, I'm just not familiar enough with Nada Surf to make that call. Anyway, the vocals are stunningly similar to Jason Lytle. And so is the production, with layered guitars and strong melodies. I just love this album and bonus cd is flawless. I've been listening to it repeatedly and many tracks are perfect. I hope my comparison with Grandaddy is not seen as a slight because it's anything but - it's a total compliment.
