In the past, I have had several different kinds of covers for my Kindles. I have ended up with a Bobarra cover both times, because they were lightweight and so so pretty. When I saw this Amazon red Kindle cover on the site, I liked the look of it so I got it.
There are good things and not-so-good things about it. Overall, I am pretty happy with it. It is very pretty, compact, and most importantly, it holds the Kindle securely and it won't slide out. Plus, and the biggest plus, it has a light that pulls out from the top right-hand corner. The light is powered by the Kindle (it only lights up it it's pulled out and the Kindle is powered on), so you don't have to worry about cords or batteries. For this reason alone I recommend this cover, especially if you do a lot of reading in bed at night.
So my reservations? It's very heavy. Perhaps that's what's necessarily to keep the Kindle secure, and to also have that pull-out light as an accessory. But a big part of the wonderfulness that is the new Kindle 3 is that it is so lightweight. Well, not with this cover.
Secondly, the light comes out from the top right corner of the cover, and it does not uniformly light up the screen. In particular, the bottom left portion get the least amount of light. Note that I can still read the Kindle at night, but it's a little annoying.
If you want an attractive cover with a pull-out light that requires no batteries or cords, this is your cover. If you got your Kindle because you wanted something that weighed very little, or if you want a strong light on the screen for nighttime reading, you may want to go with something else.
Overall - I am happy with it, but just want you to know it has its problems.
