Toxicity is a very good album by System of a Down but it's a huge disappointment for me after hearing their debut album. That cd was much more chaotic, fun, and the guitars were much better, there's nothing even close to "Soil" on here. Daron's riffs seem so much more monotonous and boring on here, which can easily be heard on songs that start out heavy like "Jet Pilot" and "Deer Dance" and in the choruses of songs like "ATWA" and "Forest".
On a more positive note this is a little more concentrated than the debut, there's nothing like "Mind" on here which really was a waste of a 6 minute song. During the quieter parts and such the guitar playing is good, as seen in "ATWA" and "Chop Suey" which isn't something I can say as much about the debut.
As a conclusion I'd say this is a good first album to get for System of a Down, either this or Mezmerize which shows the band is really good but not in full force like the debut which I recommend getting by all means, but you won't appreciate it if you don't get this first.
Best songs here include Prison Song, Chop Suey, ATWA, Science and Shimmy, the other 2 singles aren't bad either but not as good
