*I received an ecopy of this book via Edelweiss. This has not influenced my review.*

This was a subdued, slow-paced, high fantasy graphic novel about a princess, her knight, and lots of royal court intrigue. Poppy is the illegitimate daughter of the king, but now he's dead, her mother is away, her father's brother has taken the throne, and someone at court is trying to have her killed, but she doesn't know who.

There were a lot of things to love about this story, like:

- WOC main character
- POC love interest
- characters who looked like real people instead of impossibly perfect (the non-MC princess even had acne, and the Sleepless Knights had bags under their eyes!)
- budding romance between a princess and her knight
- clear artwork
- easy-to-follow plot
- royal court intrigue
- fantasy world
- bit of mystery
- cute little fennec fox(?) pet

Ultimately though, the art style wasn't right for my taste (which is a very subjective thing), and all the court politics just didn't interest me enough (again, a subjective thing).

But like I said, there were a lot of great things I liked about this graphic novel. So even though I probably won't continue the series, I did enjoy this, and I would still recommend this if it sounds like your kind of thing!
