VOICE OF A DEAD GUY back among the living,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Real Animal (Audio CD)
Other than "An Introduction" a fine compilation, this is the first cd of A.E. I have heard. I did see his appearance on "Austin City Limits." From the little I know of this man, he is lucky to be alive, let alone making records and I guess you have to know that to appreciate the lyrics. I bought this
because I heard "Nuns Song" on the radio. I recognized producer Tony
Visconti's sound. Anyone who grew up with Bowie should. A.E. seems to
be reliving a lot of history here and that makes the best songs because the
rest is filler. Stand out tracks like "Chelsea Hotel" and "Sister Lost Soul" set
the tone. The one track I wished was deleted is "Golden Bear." It sounds
like an outtake from a Bowie record. The last 3 songs are all great.
"Slow Down" gave me goose bumps, like a page out of my own life.
I have a feeling the more I listen to this, the more I'm going to like it.
