1931's "Possessed" was the third film to star both Joan Crawford and Clark Gable. The duo would make eight movies together, become lovers and would be life-long friends until Gable died in the early sixties.
This film (not to be confused by Joan's Oscar nominated performance in 1947's "Possessed") tells the story of a poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks who meets the man of her dreams, a dashing New York City attorney. Probably more evident in this film than any other the chemistry between Gable and Crawford is evident. The story is well-written, well-directed and superbly plotted and it's one of my favorites.
