1.0 out of 5 stars Plastic Threads Strip, June 1, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Videosecu 6 Black Universal Satellite Studio Speaker Mounts / Brackets for Walls and Ceilings 1UP (Black, 6 Pack) (Electronics)
The set is obviously well thought out and designed, and includes almost any type of fastener (to both speakers and the wall) you could imagine.

There is just one flaw: the modular parts of the mounts are dovetails tightened with an Allen wrench machine screw. In order to ensure the dovetails don't slip out, causing your speaker to crash to the floor, you must make them fairly tight. The threads are plastic (simply being molded from the mounts) and it is much too easy to strip the threads and ruin the piece. I ended up gluing several pieces and if I ever take the speakers down, I'll have to cut the mounts to get them off the speakers. The thread holes should have been metal sleeved, or a different mechanism (even something as simple as an concave indent in the dovetail sleeve) should have been designed to hold the sleeves in place.

Thanks for your well-thought out analytical report; you've dissuaded me from this purchase--will keep looking.

Yes, I have the same problem. I haven't glue my satelite speakers to the mount yet, but I was thinking of doing the same.

I wish I would have seen this before I ordered mine. I have these mounts and have a stripped thread too.
