I would recommend this romance for anyone wanting to read a fun regency that still is meaty. The Last Hellion is by far the funniest Regency that I have ever read. Loretta Chase put out very witty dialogue and description that made the book move along really well.
The heroine is aggressive and outspoken, yet she is not annoying or obnoxious. The hero is on a destructive path, and QUITE the misogynist yet we can't help but root for him to get the girl.
Chase also showcases the topic of child prostitution- I liked that the heroine didn't come across as being preachy, and that it took quite a few chapters for Vere (the hero) to actually realize that there are ills in society that he can help address.
Now the reason why I didn't rate the book 5 stars, is that the romance was lacking. I am not talking about sex scenes, but just the falling in love and the reveal of the inner characters to each other. I felt as if the heroine had her shields up 98% of the book. With that said, it made for a very entertaining read.
