Pop Stole Country's Sweetheart!,
This review is from: Red (Audio CD)
If you are looking for a more country sound, this may not be the album you want. I love it. I am NOT a country music fan, but like certain country singers/bands. I am definitely more of a pop fan, so this album is awesome for me! When Taylor first came onto the music scene I was not impressed. I thought, okay, twangy little girl with an okay voice. Then her second CD came out and I started to like some of her stuff. After she released Speak Now, I was hooked. She was getting away from the country twang and going to pop. Again, this was all good for me, but I know many country fans were not happy with it. Well, Red is here and it is awesome! Pop for sure, and I love how she has found a great sound for her voice.
So far, I like every song for the most part. I was not a fan of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together when it first came out (I thought it was Ke$ha at first!) but it has grown on me. I find myself singing it all the time.
The whole album has a blunt, raw look at love and heartache. I like her edgy lyrics, and her willingness to mix up the songs this time. As much as I like her, I admit in the past that you could tell it was a Taylor Swift song within the first 3 notes of the song. You may not even know which one it was, but you would know it was her. I feel like she has stepped outside of her comfort zone with Red and is trying new things. Fortunately, with her catchy lyrics and fun outlook on life makes her a gem in any genre.
Hope this helps! God Bless!!!

Good review. I just got the album and I do like it. However, I do think some of the songs are blander than I was expecting. But it is my first run through so we will see. I'm digging "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "Stay Stay Stay" a lot. I also like her first two singles.
