I loved "Ever Changing Times", Lukather's last album. That one set the bar for me. After the first listen to "All's Well", I wasn't as impressed. I've had it for a week now and I'm hooked. The musicianship is still top notch. The songs take a little while to sink into you. The lyrics are filled with genuine emotion and will grab you after a few listenings. Steve's guitar work never fails to dazzle me. The chord changes are great. The mood and the vibe of each piece are multilayered and engaging. One moment he'll hit you with a yearning vocal, then a couple good guitar riffs, and then a jazzy solo. Intelligent grown up 'adult' rock, that doesn't skimp on the 'rock' part. If I have any complaints about this album (I bought the CD), its that the bass end was mastered a little too loud in my opinion. I have to crank it down a few notches. Now if he'll only play a live gig in the SF bay area, I'll be happy.
