After my kitchen timer died I was using an app on my smartphone, but wasn't that happy about the risk of splattering a sensitive electronic device during my sometimes frantic food preparation, so I was very pleased to find this handy little timer/stopwatch/clock combo. Instead of residing on the danger zone of my counter like my phone, it has a magnet so it sticks to my refrigerator door and a cord so I can hang it around my neck if I'm going from room to room while something is cooking. It works down to the second, allowing me to use it for timing my tutoring students when we're working on reading fluency. I now take it with me when I'm walking or riding a bike instead of lugging my cell phone around when I don't really need to be all that connected. Unlike many other digital timers it has a keyboard so you don't need to scroll through a series of numbers, you just tap in the ones you want. The stop/clear button is a bright yellow so even without my glasses it's easy to find when the alarm starts beeping. As an added bonus, it's inexpensive making this an all-around winner.
